Information concerning the indexing of pictures
At the behest of a number of museums we have created our own technical specifications for the picture library.
It is clear, however, that there may be a need for more information when searching for appropriate resource material.
The specifications that lie behind culture-images' search engine have been developed specifically for photo galleries.
All search entries refer back to key words embedded in the complete text associated to a particular picture.
This does not replace any standard indexing system that may have been developed by museums for their own catalogues.

A two page article focused on the marketing of photo catalogues owned by museums was published recently in VISUEL (Volume 4/2007).
The work of culture-images was described under the headline, "A new entry point for art and art history related photography."
The article paid particular attention to the asymetrical developments in Germany as compared with the English speaking world.
